Gary Con XVIII – TCG Events News & Updates

We hope you’re all amped and getting excited for Gary Con XVIII—happening in less than four weeks! So, hop aboard the hype-train and read about some of the fun events in store!!

Trading Card Games

Heading up the hill for a jaunt? Check out the Trading Card Game area at the Mountain Top Ski Chalet! While you’re there squeezing in a couple games between your other events, make sure to visit Grognard Games and Oddwillow’s Game Haven our fantastic TCG exhibitors! Please note that some of our events (e.g. drafts) require you to purchase packs of cards (which you keep), but there are always free events and open play going on at the Mountain Top Ski Chalet as well.

Tourneys & Iconic Events

We’d like to remind everyone to pay attention to the suggested skill level on event listings in TTE for Gary Con XVIII. If you can, familiarize (or re-familiarize) yourself with the game systems while preparing to chase down some glorious victory!

Magic: The Gathering

The Gary Con Gary Adkison Memorial Magic the Gathering Tournament (GCGAMMtGT) takes place to honor the memory and contributions to Magic: The Gathering by Gary Adkison, the father of Peter Adkison—the founder and former CEO of Wizards of the Coast:

MTG: Premodern Tournament

Enjoy nostalgic Magic: The Gathering cards and formats? Premodern is a community-created constructed format consisting of the sets from Fourth Edition to Scourge. The card pool thus roughly spans the period in between the formats 93/94 and Modern.

Friday at 1:00pm-5:50pm – Event #510 – Premodern Magic the Gathering

MTG: Duskmourn Draft

(Purchase required) Join us for a Magic: the Gathering draft using the Duskmourn boosters. Build a deck from the cards you draft and compete in three rounds. All skill levels are welcome.

Friday at 6:00pm-10:00pm – Event 2783 – Friday Night Magic

Friday Night Magic (FNM) with Grognard Games

(Purchase required) A Wizards of the Coast staple, Friday Night Magic. This is the day you can almost always find Magic: The Gathering at your local game store, and you have found it here at Gary Con as well! This event is specifically a draft event Friday night, but as with your local games stores, you are welcome to bring your commander decks and face off as well.
